I see them
and my bra suddenly becomes too tight. My chest spasms with sweet visions and I cannot breathe. You dare to awaken places with visible imprints and invisible hands. Fancy patterns cling where whispering motions once moved. Basement shoes to fuck on swaying hips and choking words.
I see them
and I am gone. Back, tripping clumsily down memory lane. Smooth sailing was never our way. No. Fifty Shades of Grey is more like it. Bumps, jarring potholes and loud growls are on the path we follow. It just suits us better. Doesn’t it?
I see them
and I am transported by reindeer to clover fields under the rainbow. Somewhere over them, too. Everywhere. Nowhere. Turn left and move through the looking glass. Yes, there. Now, everything is right.
I see them
and I see you.

“Really, Sarah…
I’m telling you, girl. He is too old for you!”
“20 years isn’t that much difference, Philly! Look at Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, they’re like a hundred years apart!” Sarah pushed the salad around her plate. She really didn’t want to argue with her co-worker. In her heart, she knew Philly was right, Dominic was far too old for her. But he made her feel so good! Couldn’t people see that? Didn’t that count for something?
“He’s going to chew on your heart, Sarah… shred it to pieces, then spit in on the ground and turn on his heel and walk away. He’s done it before. And he’ll do it again. It’s almost a guarantee.” Philly leaned forward, gazed intently into Sarah’s deep blue eyes and tried to impress upon her the gravity of their conversation. Sarah was so young and at 33 years old, still had a lot of growing up to do.
Sarah stared defiantly back at Philly, wondering why her love life was so important to her. “What’s it to you, anyway? Why do you care who I date?”
“Please, Sarah… just consider what I’ve said, I’d rather not see you get hurt, that’s all.” Philly couldn’t tell her friend that she too, had fallen under Dominic’s spell years before. He pursued her, wooed her and swept her off her feet. He wove his magic around her so completely that she would do anything he asked of her.
Anything.
Philly had fallen totally and absolutely in love with Dominic. He was the governor of her life. And still was actually, even though their intimacy had waned down to close friendship. She would always love him. All his faults, all his infidelities, all his wandering lust. She would be his… and he, hers… eternally. Like a collared pet with her master.
But, this wasn’t the reason she didn’t want her friend to be with him. If Dominic desired Sarah, he would have her, no matter what Philly said or did. This didn’t bother her, she accepted this about Dominic. Philly just wanted to protect her friend from the unneeded heartbreak. Okay, so maybe she was a little jealous. So what.
What really gnawed at the back of Philly’s mind, were the lies he always told. Why did he have such a hard time confiding in her? What made him feel she couldn’t handle the truth? Did he think he was protecting her?
She had committed her Soul to him from the beginning, what made it so difficult for him to reciprocate? Hadn’t she proven her loyalty time and time again? What could it possibly take to earn his faith? It drove Philly mad. Of all the non-conventional elements that were the foundation of their relationship, lack of trust was the one thing that did not belong. And yet, there it was.
”Philly?” Sarah’s voice and the scraping of her plate as she nudged it towards the edge of the table, interrupted her pondering. “Can we go, now? I really don’t want to talk about this anymore. You can’t possibly understand how I feel about Dominic and what you’re saying is confusing me and actually starting to make me a little angry.”
Reaching for Sarah’s hand, Philly stroked it gently. “Listen, sweetie… I DO know how you feel, believe me. But, sometimes when we’re overwhelmed with thoughts, we can’t think straight. You know? I’m just trying to look out for you. I don’t want you to get hurt!”
“YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW I FEEL ABOUT HIM!” Sarah’s words hissed through the diner like a cold gust of wind and a few patrons sitting nearby turned to look their way.
Philly froze in her seat and deliberately eyed her friend. “C’mon, let’s get out of here so we can talk.” They paid their bill and left the diner, heading towards the park. The heat of the sun warming their faces as they walked in the cold autumn breeze, helped relieve some of the tension between them. When they were settled on a bench away from the noise of the traffic, Philly turned to her friend and confessed.
“I know what he can do, Sarah. He can charm the pants off of you. He pays attention to you when you feel lonely and makes your pussy wet as he whispers in your ear all the things he will do to you when he gets you alone. Things like gently caressing your nipples with his tongue, then maybe biting down just enough to draw a gasp of surprised pain.”
Sarah slumped against the park bench, chest rising with each heavy breath as she warily listened to her friend.
“He’ll reach inside your panties and stroke your cunt with one hand as he grabs the hair at the nape of your neck with the other. He’ll entwine his fingers through your long brown locks, the locks he told you he loves so much, then yank it backwards until you’re grunting with desire. That’s when he’ll bend his head to feast on your neck, sucking and biting until you beg him to move further down your body.”
Sarah was listening intently to her friend, now. It was like she was in her head and reading from a script.
“He’ll push his hardness against you, teasing.. until you reach for him. Then he’ll pull away and look at you with disgust. ‘Don’t touch me unless I give you permission,’ he’ll say sternly, yet in a very tempered tone. He’ll lean into you then, restraining your hands behind your back until he sees the compliance in your eyes. And you will comply, Sarah. He needs to be in control. Don’t ever think otherwise.”
Sarah closed her eyes and a long sigh escaped into the frosty air while Philly somehow described exactly what was going on in her life with Dominic.
“He’ll play with you like a toy. And that’s what you’ll be to him, Sarah. A toy. No matter how many times he uses the word Love. He’ll task you to do things that please him. Perhaps even things you would never have considered doing before. But, you do them… for him. Because you want him to be happy. Because you can’t stand when he isn’t. It ruins your whole world if he is displeased. So, you do things for him.”
Eyes still closed, Sarah leaned her head against the park bench. A single tear formed and glistened on her black lashes.
“And then he’ll reward you. He’ll give you his attention and gifts. He’ll give you his Love. Until you make him angry. Then he’ll give you hatred. He’ll ignore you and cause you anguish. He’ll crush your world. Sarah… you are my friend. Please, please, don’t fall into his spiderweb of promises. He’ll only hurt you.”
Sarah’s head was spinning. Philly’s words were like a red hot poker to her stomach. Surely, this man couldn’t possibly be as harmful as she was making him out to be. How could Philly know what kind of relationship she had with Dominic? She couldn’t! She angrily swiped away the lone tear. “I don’t know, Philly. I hear what you’re saying, but it doesn’t make any sense to me. Dominic is wonderful! And he makes me happy. I’m going to continue seeing him, despite what you say. So, please, don’t try to talk me out of this again, okay?”
“Fine, Sarah. Do what you want, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.” Philly’s spirit sank a little further and she shook her head sadly. If Dominic wanted to play with a young girl… a baby, as far as she was concerned, he would do it. No matter how much it hurt the other women in his life.
Philly was a seasoned pro at this by now. She had weathered a few of Dominic’s whims before, but in the end he always realized the treasure he had already captured and returned to her.
And so… she would wait for him again. Exactly where she belonged. Exactly where she was expected to be. Kneeling at his feet like the good girl he adored.
